Postcards from the Mess #4
learning to let it be his...
Happy Friday, ya’ll!
Sorry, I missed last week! We were at the beach, which is truly where this week’s lesson came from. Right from the middle of the mess, sandy hands and all.
We’re back home now for a quick turnaround before we head out again for the Fourth of July, and the only way I could carve out a few minutes to write this week was to stick screens in front of my children’s faces so they’d quit bickering for 30 minutes. But I wanted to get this to you.
So let’s talk about learning to let it all be His…
"The sea is his, for he made it, and his hands formed the dry land." — Psalm 95:5
I was sitting in front of the ocean last week, watching my boys run straight at the waves like they had no fear, and something about this verse just kept coming back to me.
He made this. All of it.
The part that feels endless and a little terrifying, and also somehow the most peaceful place on earth. He spoke it into existence and called it good.
And I'm learning to let it be His: the ocean, yes, but also the week I can't control, the things I'm still carrying, the mess of home in the dead of Summer.
I don't know what you're carrying into this second half of Summer, but I hope you find one moment where you look at something and remember it belongs to Him:
~ their future
~ the sunsets
~ the laughter with friends or family
~ even the messy feelings attached to a certain situation
It’s His. He is in the middle of it.
That tends to make the carrying a little lighter.
Until next week, with maybe a touch more energy and a few more words ;) Blair
